At the heart of the Lyons-la-Forêt beech forest, Mortemer Abbey is witness to a prestigious past. Founded in the 12th century by Henri I Beauclerc, 4th son of William the Conqueror, Mortemer has been a place of pilgrimage for many kings and queens.
